Berlinale Retrospective

It was an eventful and productive time at this year's, sometimes very political, 74th Berlin International Film Festival. I had a few intense conversations with Antonia Uhl, director of »Auster«, about upcoming projects. At the Hyatt, I discussed upcoming collaborations with Petra Selbertinger and Marcel Hess from Canon EMEA.
At the ARRI party at Soho House & Co, I met Andrea Rosenwirth and Riccarda Caiati and finally got to meet Nina Bayne in person. The exchange with DP Sunil Borkar about his Berlinale film “The Fable” and differences between the Indian and European film industry was very enriching. I also met two talented producers from Munich.
In between, I watched “Pa-Myo”. I also had the pleasure of seeing Fabio Thieme's (director of »Silent Disco«) premiere of his play “Cheap Poetry” at the HfS Ernst Busch and meeting Meike Gröne, PL of “Silent Disco”, again.
At the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW film reception, I was particularly pleased to see my fellow Ifs alumna Antonia Schäfer from the NFTS London again. We discussed the latest developments in the camera sector with Prof. Philip Groening. Of course, Orkan Bayram was not to be missed!
At the VRFF breakfast, I happened to meet gripper Bernd Mayer and at the alumni meeting of the ifs International Film School Cologne, I chatted with DP colleagues Montell Taraschewski and Mo Marquart (Gaffer »Black Friday«) and many others. The party at ENCOURAGE Film Talents was rocked by DJ Jannis Tiedemann (1st AC on »True Romance«) and I was able to meet actress and organizer Sinje Irslinger.
After a week of inspiring encounters, I returned to Cologne.
